Lagtime at The Jupiter – 5/20/2011 – CD Release Party!

Hello again!

Lagtime has put together yet another not-to-miss event with our good friends over at The Jupiter in Berkeley.

Erik Kneer (Herd a’ Cats) and Clyde “The Slyde” Sutliff, aka “Chicken Bone” (CV Dub) will be with us again sitting in at various points throughout the night. If you caught the show at Velma’s a few months back, you know the heat they both bring. You just don’t want to miss this.

Speaking of the Velma’s show, we’re proud to be able to bring you a beautifully mixed and mastered recording of that amazing night of soul, funk and groove. That’s right – we’re releasing a CD of that show, Lagtime – Live at Velma’s SF – the unveiling of which will take place at The Jupiter.

So take a ride on over to Berkeley this Friday night and join us at The Jupiter. We will be playing our hearts out for you – you can be sure of that. Details are below.

Whoa – What A Show…

Lagtime wants to thank all of you who came – hell…all of you who even tried to come or even thought of coming – to Velma’s last Friday.

We had long-time friends, newly-made friends, folks we haven’t seen for years, folks we haven’t seen for days, family, colleagues…you name it!

The night was amazing.

We shared the night with such renown and unforgettable musicians and all 3 of our guests lived up to both those descriptions and so much more. So – Erik, Willie and Clyde – you all elevated the music of Lagtime to such a degree as cannot be described without witnessing it.

So – WITNESS IT!

We did a full recording of the show and took lots of pictures. So be on the lookout for the audio – it’ll be released on CD and put up here for all y’all to hear…as will the pics.

More coming from Lagtime – so keep checking back.

So come prepared!
If you’ve never been to Velma’s, now is the time to pop your proverbial cherry and get out there.

It’s a haven for world-class blues and soul artists – all coming to perform for one of the warmest and loveliest staff of people you’ve ever met.

Not only does Velma’s offer some of the slickest music on the scene, but damn if you’ve ever had soul food of this quality. Don’t bother eating before you come out – save your appetite for some of the best down-home comfort food you’ll ever have this side of the Mason-Dixon line.

Lagtime is coming out with both barrels blazin’ with a full 2 hours (at least) of music supplemented and supported by the Bay Area’s own Funk and Soul / Vocalist DJ Tequila Willie (BeatDown Sound). He’ll be spinning when we’re not playing and he’ll be gracing us with his vocal stylings in and out of our set.

If that’s not enough – we’ve got Erik Kneer (Herd a’ Cats) sitting in with us. A keyboard playin’ maestro who’s jazz chops have graced the Bay Area for years.

AND…if THAT’S not enough…we got Clyde “The Slyde” Sutliff – aka “Chicken Bone” of the legendary CVDub, Dogslyde and Papa’s Culture – sitting in with some trumpet texture that you must hear to believe.

So don’t miss this special meeting of the minds among Lagtime, DJ Tequila Willie, Erik Kneer, and Clyde Sutliff at such a revered venue.

We’re going to be recording a live album that night too! Why the hell wouldn’t we??? So get close to the mics and get your screams recorded for all of posterity…after you fill your gullet with fried catfish and collard greens, of course.

Hope to see you there.

Battle of the Bands – Recap

We want to thank everyone who supported us through the massive effort of getting us through this amazing event. We have the best fan group in the world and we love you all!

The caliber of the bands we played with that night was astounding and all put on stellar performances.

Congratulations to Thanks For Leaving who took the night with record ticket sales for that event that numbered into the 140s…and I believe every single fan who bought a ticket was there.

A very special congrats as well to our friends Hillside Fire who came in a VERY close second.

You had to see it to believe it – just unforgettable performances by these two great bands.

Eventhough Lagtime didn’t take the prize, we still had one of (if not) THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF OUR LITTLE TINY CAREER THUS FAR! The crowd was hoppin’ and the sound was fantastic. We’ve got the whole show on video – so check out our video page to see it all.

Again – thanks to everyone who gave of their time and money to support us through the Battle and a very special thanks to the DNA Lounge and Gorilla Productions for putting it on.

The DNA Lounge does this battle a lot – so keep checking the DNA Lounge website for information on upcoming battles.

FINAL ROUND tickets are available now
Friday, February 4, 2011 at 5:30 PM
$10.00

Lagtime is playing the Battle of the Bands at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco on Sunday, November 21st and we need all the support we can get. We’re pre-selling tickets for this event for $10.

The trick to this (for the bands) is that we need to sell a certain number of tickets to ensure a good timeslot. There are 8 bands playing 30 minutes each, but you won’t have to hang out there all night. We’re trying to sell enough tickets so that we will get a timeslot somewhere between 8-10pm.

We won’t know the official lineup until the day of the show, but we will post that info on our website, facebook, twitter (and we can also text or email you if you make sure we have your info).

I hope you come out. Contact us if you want to buy a ticket and we’ll get you one – info@lagtimeband.com.

You can buy tickets with PayPal or a credit card (see above). Your ticket will be waiting for you at the door at the DNA Lounge with your name on it.

Thanks for the support!

Lagtime at the Bistro in Hayward – Wed 10/20/2010 – 8PM

Lagtime’s taking over the Bistro in Hayward again this Wednesday at 8pm.

Come on out to this little gem of a place in downtown Hayward – there’s an outside patio in front so you can enjoy a beverage and watch the passersby (or is it passerbys?) and there’s a great stage inside too!

We’ll be recording the show that night for our up-coming live CD, so show up and scream loud…you just might become a permanent fixture on that release.

Lagtime’s at the Martinez Italian Street Painting Festival – 9/25/2010

Danny White – legendary Bay Area blues aficionado, harp player, left-handed guitar player of right-handed guitars, host of blues jams, owner and operator of Good Stuff Guitar Shop, supporter of music anywhere and everywhere – has asked us to play a set during Martinez’s yearly celebration of an ancient Italian art, street painting. We’re playing just outside of Good Stuff Guitar Shop at noon, then hanging out to listen to the amazing collection of blues and Americana bands that will follow.

So come out! Eat some Italian food, paint a few Italian squares on the Italian sidewalk and listen to good-home Italian jam music and Italian blues.

Otis Lounge – 07/29/2010

Greetings to all.

Lagtime is thrilled to be asked to play at one of San Francisco’s swankiest hideaways, Otis Lounge.

Nestled right smack in the middle of the city’s answer to European style, Maiden Lane, Otis is the destination for San Fran’s cool kids.

So please come on out and bring your friends!

We are honored to share the night with Dj Tequila Willie of Beatdown. If you frequent Otis, you’ve no doubt heard the funkiness coming from upstairs…that’s most likely him.
